FAQs

Can I use more than one photo?
Of course, you can use as many as you wish. A composite can be made from the images.

What if I am not happy with the finished results?
No quibble money back.

How do I get good quality photos
?
Generally, the higher the "megapixels" your camera - the higher resolution.

The amount of light and camera settings make a difference also. If in doubt, ramp up the resolution. Images should ideally be at least 200k in size to give some detail.

How do I make copies of photographs?
You can email the images directly or, if they are a conventional photo you will need access to a flatbed scanner. Scanners are shipped with a lot of home computer systems or you may find your friends have one or there is one at your local learning centre.

My photos are pixelated or of very low quality
Increase the image size setting on you camera. To get a really good photo you need an image that more than fills your screen. It is possible to increase the resolution here but the higher the quality the better.

A few tips...

Take a number of photos in the desired pose and take a couple of the desired background -if you prefer a detailed background other than the primary pose photo.

If possible take an additional close-up to assure more accurate eye, skin and colouring - the character comes from the eyes... this will be especially helpful if the chosen pose is close up.

If several source photos are to be combined, try to take them in similar lighting. If possible get the shot taken out of doors on a bright day. Try to get the animal against a contrasting background as this helps to distinguish the shape, how the ears lie and shape of leg etc.

Get face to face

This is a photo of three hardworking dogs and the pose is ideal - unfortunately it is difficult to use as the shot points down on their heads. If you can get eye to eye with them so much the better.

Don't forget, If the photo was taken by a professional photographer please check copyright.

Please do not sent valuable or irreplaceable images. All images will be returned promptly

Finished painting

Once completed I can email you examples of how your painting will look when framed and mounted. Please ask.

Paintings usually look better when both mounted and framed. Cream with gold is usuallay a good bet. If considering a mount ask that it be cut with a slightly wider bottom edge, it improves the look of the image and stops it "dropping out" of the bottom of the frame.

When considering colours of the mount and frame it is a good idea to use some of the colours used in the painting itself.

Frame only: - note how the image looks smaller than the mounted ones.
