Brinicombe

  • As with Ylem Limited, Brinicombe was established over 30 years ago by Denis Brinicombe after he recognised the need for a more diverse range of health and feed products. They are now one of the UK’s leading suppliers to livestock farms.

The majority of products are manufactured on-site at Brinicombe’s purpose-created plants adjacent to the Head Office at Crediton (Devon). Further manufacturing and distribution depots are run from Ripon (Yorkshire), Carluke (Lanarkshire), Llansawel (Carmarthenshire) and Welshpool (Powys) *.
Formerly, the depots operated different IT systems not only from each other but also from Head Office. Depots then supplied information to Crediton Head Office. This resulted in considerable manpower effort at Head Office ‘keying in’ essential information to maintain a master record. Obviously, each time information is added to a system, there is margin for error – a feature Denis Brinicombe was keen to eradicate.

Ylem used their Mobius Accounting and Stock Control Package to provide a tailor-made system to bring the depots and Head Office in line with each other, which has resulted in the business becoming more efficient and cost effective.

One of the major benefits of using Ylem’s system is that the company’s cash flow has improved greatly as invoices are now raised as products are despatched.

Tony Cordon, Head of Finance and Personnel at Brinicombe said, “our people are very pleased with the amount of information they can get from Ylem’s system. It will make a tremendous difference to our cash flow”. He is certain that the new system “will bring benefits for years to come as we can now analyse our business and this will help with business planning and forward projections”. Tony Cordon went on to say that “We are very happy with the support we have had from Ylem during the implementation of the system”.

Working closely with Brinicombe resulted in Ylem creating a unique system that not only takes care of the accounting/stock control/sales record function but also stores recipes for the feeds manufactured. Ylem’s system alerts staff to purchase more ingredients as they are used.
In addition to animal feeds, Denis Brinicombe makes ‘neutraceuticals’, which require Veterinary permission before they can be supplied to the purchaser.
Bill Wilson, Ylem’s founder and Technical Director is delighted that they were chosen by Denis Brinicombe Group. “To be chosen by one of the region’s premier agricultural businesses is something of which we, at Ylem, are very proud. Between us we have over 60 years’ experience in our chosen fields. This has been a wonderful opportunity for our technology to help a significant player in a traditional Devon industry”.

LCH Ltd

    • LCH who started with GENESYS 15 years ago with a four user system and have expanded to over 80 users during that time was acquired by Speedy Hire for £59,000,000
Throughout the whole time LCH were able to use GENESYS. Very few software products would be practical to install at 4 users and expand without changing the basic system. Another real life success story and we wish John and James all the best and look forward to a successful relationship with Speedy Hire
